What I Learned About “Focus” While Working From Home

Since working from home, I discovered that listening to lo-fi or downtempo music helps me to concentrate. So far, I’ve used Apple Music, but I recently came across an app called Brain.fm that uses non-distracting music to help with concentration. The basic concept is that most music captures your attention, but this can be distracting when you’re trying to focus; Brain.fm uses scientifically proven playlists to be non-distracting and helps you stay focussed.

So can Apple Music playlists provide the same level of focus as Brain.fm?

Comparing Apple Music playlists and Brain.fm

I like the music from Brain.fm, but I’m not sure it’s worth the $50 annual subscription. After listening to one of their 30-minute “focus” playlists, I admit it helped me focus, but was it better than the Apple Music playlists?
